CHILDREN’S PROGRAM

(AGES 8-12)

The Youth Program at GenPsych (ages 8-12) is an outpatient program offering both Partial Care treatment as well as Intensive Outpatient Programming. Our program aims to help children struggling with various issues such as anxiety, depression, defiance, anger and more. Our multidisciplinary approach allows us to reach these children on a more thorough level, leading to widespread change in areas such as self-esteem, behavioral issues and family dynamics.

Before entering the program, each child undergoes a comprehensive evaluation to determine the extent of any psychiatric issues. We will then begin to create an individualized and appropriate treatment plan for the child. Once admitted, each child is teamed with a therapist that can best meet his or her needs.

The program tracks run as follows:

Partial Care Program and Intensive Outpatient Programs are both full-day, well-structured programs that include 5 ½ hours of clinical treatment, including group therapy, individual therapy and psychiatry. In addition to the clinical hours, children also attend 2 hours of school instruction daily by State Board Certified teachers. Partial Care and IOP run Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The amount of days decreases once clinical progress is observed.

OUR SERVICES

Each child enrolled in the program receives a unique treatment plan designed to help them reach all goals in a timely fashion. A therapist is assigned to each individual to work with them one-on-one throughout their treatment journey. Medication management and therapeutic services are provided by our psychiatrists. Group therapy is also a large part of our treatment program.

At GenPsych, we offer a wide range of supportive and creative therapies that help children relate to and learn from one another, including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, art therapy, play therapy, music therapy, wellness/mindfulness, anger management, family therapy and many others.

We strongly believe that the element of family in a child’s life plays a major role in providing successful treatment for each individual. Our regular family meetings and a support group for parents help to educate the family and better answer their questions and concerns.

Academic Services

To prevent disruption of academic needs, patients enrolled in our day programs are offered an education component through Silvergate Prep. This service prevents our patients from falling behind in their school work and provides them with academic structure and support. Patients learn in a therapeutic environment while receiving assistance with time management and assignment completion leading to a reduction in stress when they are ready to return to school.

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY

“I’ve been to other treatment facilities in NJ and have been in and out of hospitals. This was the first time I actually felt heard and respected.”

“It was a comfortable atmosphere, the docs were good and the food was pretty great too. They order from a local pizza place.”

“The people there were cool. You have to turn in your phone during group but I got used to it. I was suicidal before but now I’m not. I’d go back if I had to.”

“Finally, I have therapists that actually listen to me. I would recommend GenPsych to anyone who has tried other facilities and haven’t gotten results.”

“There were ups and downs and sometimes I wasn’t the easiest person to deal with, but they were patient with me and explained the process all the way through. The groups were awesome too!”
