In the US, seven million women and one million men struggle with an eating disorder. Among the most common of these disorders is anorexia nervosa, or simply, anorexia. NJ anorexia treatment programs are available to help decrease eating disorder behaviors and address the thought patterns associated with eating disorders.
What is anorexia?
Anorexia is best distinguished from other eating disorders by the restriction of eating. This obsession with and avoidance of food is driven by feelings of fear about gaining weight and a disordered desire to be thin. In many cases, anorexia is accompanied by body dysmorphic disorder, or a severe preoccupation with one’s appearance and its perceived flaws.
