NJ Bulimia Treatment

One to three percent of Americans struggle with bulimia nervosa, an eating disorder characterized by binging and purging. While this disorder is not uncommon, especially in individuals in their early to mid-twenties, many do not receive the treatment they need. For more information on NJ bulimia treatment and how you can get help, read below.

What is bulimia?

Unlike anorexia, those experiencing bulimia nervosa do not restrict their eating. Rather, individuals with bulimia eat normal to large amounts of food regularly before inducing vomiting to prevent weight gain. (Some may also overexercise or fast.) Like anorexia, bulimia manifests from a deep fear of gaining weight, and can co-exist with other mental illnesses.
