Assemblyman John DiMaio joins GenPsych and NAMI in Support of those Living with Mental Illness

On September 22, 2014 @ 7pm, at Somerset County VoTech in Bridgewater, NJ, Clinicians from GenPsych, PC were joined by Assemblyman John DiMaio in a skill-based presentation to the caregivers and loved ones of Somerset, Hunterdon, Warren, Middlesex, Morris and Union County NAMI chapters. Over 100 members of the community were in attendance.

Accompanying Assemblyman DiMaio, Director of Health and Human Services for Bridgewater Township Chris Poulsen was also an honorary guest in attendance. Assemblyman DiMaio stated, “Mental health issues have been in the national news recently with the death of Robin Williams, but it is an issue facing millions of ordinary Americans. It is a day to day struggle for these individuals and their families. This event is a wonderful opportunity for caregivers in the area to learn the skills necessary to assist their loved ones in times of crises.”

This presentation is sponsored by the GenPsych Foundation. The GenPsych Foundation is a non-profit division of GenPsych, PC, dedicated to community outreach, fundraising and advocacy. “After attending multiple NAMI meetings in different counties over the past couple of months, the one request that I heard loud and clear, directly from the families living in the trenches, was that they needed more clinical knowledge on how to manage and support their loved ones in the home. We are both excited and proud to be providing such support to the community through this presentation, and more importantly, through the free, weekly, skilled based support group we will be offering to families, beginning in October,” stated John Mopper, GenPsych Foundation Secretary.
