Genpsych Bridgewater to Participate in Bridgewater Township’s Substance Abuse Prevention Program for

GenPsych Bridgewater will be participating in the Bridgewater Township Municipal Alliance Committee’s substance abuse prevention parenting program at the Bridgewater Municipal Complex on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 7:00 PM. All parents or caregivers that reside in Somerset County are invited to attend the free workshop.

The 15 Minute Child Break Program is a one-hour multi-media presentation provided through the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey (PDFNJ). Information on the parent or caregiver’s role on substance abuse prevention will be discussed at the session. Topics covered will be how to talk to children about drugs, signs of use and abuse, current drug terminology and trends of substance use. The presentation is viewed as an opportunity for parents and caregiver’s to understand both the role they play and the power they possess to prevent their children from abusing drugs and alcohol. The presentation is based on New Jersey specific research conducted by the PDFNJ’s Center for Prevention Research. The program is provided in cooperation with the Governor’s Council on Alcoholism & Drug Abuse and the New Jersey Department of Human Services.

Registration for the program is not required. The PDFNJ is a New Jersey Department of Education “Registered New Jersey Professional Development Provider.” All Educators who complete the Child Break session will receive a certificate for accrued professional development hours.
